"Ok, so let me get this straight. For two years, we've been fighting these creatures and now we're quitting?!"

Sylia sighed and looked at Linna. "There's no point in fighting any more, there's no one left to fight," she replied. "All of the Boomers are gone, Mason is dead, the Chairman is almost dead. GENOM is being broken up into little pieces. MegaTokyo is safe. There is no longer a need for the Knight Sabers."

"So, we're going our separate ways?"

"Get real, Nene-chan. We're practically family. And even though the organization is no more, that doesn't mean our friendship is over," Priss replied. She smiled at the younger woman and looked up at the rest of the group. "Right, Usa-chan?"

Usagi Chiba turned away from the window and nodded. "Priss-chan is right. Besides, we still have family out there to find."

Sylia nodded and looked at all of the people sitting around her small apartment. Priss was sitting in the floor, in front of Rei and a very pregnant Asuka, who were on the couch. Shinji stood behind them, with Mackie and Nene. Linna and Leon were sitting in one of the arm chairs while Usagi, known simply as Usa and her little brother, Addison, were sitting by the window. "Exactly. Can't have the next generation showing up without a whole family to welcome her."

"Or him."

"No way, Shinji-kun," Mackie replied. "Do you know what the odds are of someone in THIS family having a boy?"

"Worse than a Boomer surviving against the Knight Sabers," Linna replied. She stood from the chair and moved toward the kitchen. "Well, if we are going to look for more family, we're gonna need a bigger place. Your apartment is just getting too small, Sylia. Especially since you expanded the shop."

Nene glanced at Mackie then turned toward the others. "Speaking of family ... my mom invited all of us to come visit her and dad. They've got more than plenty of room for everyone."

"Sounds like fun," Shinji replied. "But wouldn't going to Russia be too hard on Asuka?"

Asuka made a face at her husband. "I'll be fine, Shinji. If I can fight Angels, flying to Russia won't be any problem."

"Well, you wouldn't have to go to Russia. They live in Hiroshima now," Nene replied. "I only said they lived in Russia, so I wouldn't have to go visit them all the time."

Sylia looked at her blonde almost-sister-in-law in shock. "Nene-chan, why? I thought you said the problems you had had with your mother were over."

"They are, but ... I just can't be alone with her for long periods of time. She starts talking about the way things used to be and how I'm not following my destiny. It just gets a little old after a while," Nene replied. She sighed at the looks she was getting from most of the others. "You guys just don't understand my mother. My entire life, she's always wanted me to follow in her footsteps. You should've heard her reaction when I told her I became a cop."

"Yeah, Aunt Minako had a hard time with cops growing up," Usa replied. "What I want to know is, did you ever tell her about the Knight Sabers?"

Nene laughed slightly and shook her head. "You must be kidding. When the Knight Sabers first appeared, mom begged me to move as far from Tokyo as I could. She thought we were some kind of monsters."

"Coming from her, that's a laugh," Usa replied. When she didn't elaborate, Asuka threw a pillow at her. "Hey! What was that for?"

Asuka shrugged. "You're as bad as Rei-chan is about telling stories. What do you mean?"

Before the strawberry-blonde could answer, there was a knock at the door. Usa took the opportunity to avoid the question and ran to the door. "Hello, can I help you?"

The blonde on the other side of the door smiled upon seeing Usa. "I hope so. I'm looking for an old friend and I was told I could find her here. Do you know a woman by the name of Usagi Chiba?"

Sylia joined them at the door and smiled slightly at the newcomer. "That's her," she replied, pointing to Usa. "But, may I ask, who are you?"

Haruka frowned slightly, looking from Sylia to Usa. "No offense, but it can't be you. Odango would be older, closer to my age."

"Odango was my mother's nickname," Usa replied. "My father used to call her that sometimes because of that silly hairstyle of hers. I'm named after her, Chiba Usagi."

"Mother? Then that means ... Chibi-Usa-chan?"

"Chibi-Usa?" A woman with teal hair walked up behind the blonde and smiled at the two women on the other side. "It is her. She looks just like her mother, except for the hair. It's too short."

Usa glanced at Sylia then back at the two women on the other side of the door. "How did you ... know my mother?"

Michiru smiled. "You could say we're old friends of her and your father. We went to school with her a long time ago," she replied. She glanced at Sylia, then elbowed her companion. "I told you this was the right place. If that's not Ami-chan's daughter, then I'm Queen Beryl."

"Did you just say Beryl!?"

Everyone turned to look at Nene as she ran for the door. She let out a small squeak when she saw the two women, then pulled them into the apartment.

"Nene-chan! That's no way to treat a guest," Sylia reprimanded.

The blonde ignored her as she hugged the two stunned women. "You have to be Haruka-san and Michiru-san. Mother's told me all about you. It's so great to finally meet you guys. But I thought you were living in France. Mother said nothing about you coming back, but then again, she wouldn't because she hasn't seen you in nearly 30 years. Oh, she's going to be so excited when I tell her you're here. But ix-nay on the Eryl-Bay. No one else knows about that."

When the younger woman stopped for breath, Haruka chuckled. "If you aren't related to Minako-chan, then you must be an alien."

"No, just an airhead," Priss replied from her spot on the floor. She stood and nodded to the newcomers. "I know who you are. Tenou Haruka and Kaiou Michiru. My mother was a big fan of both of you."

"But they can't be them. They're too young." Shinji replied, looking confused.

Asuka smiled at her husband. "Shinji, dear. Shut up."

Sylia smiled and motioned for everyone to be quiet. "I think it might be best if we just all introduce ourselves. It will surely save on confusion. You are correct about my mother. Her name was Ami, Dr. Stingray Ami Mizuno. And Usa's mother was this woman you came looking for, Chiba Usagi."

"Was? What happened to them?" Haruka asked.

"Our parents were killed by a Boomer," Addison replied. While his sister had gotten their mother's strawberry-blonde hair, which she wore cut short, he had gotten their father's ink black. "Two years ago."

Usa smiled sadly. "A lot of people were killed by Boomers back then," she replied. She walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "This is my little brother, Chiba Addison."

"You might as well pull up a chair if you want the full history of everyone. It takes quite a while," Mackie replied. He introduced himself, avoiding another question about what had happened to his mother. He then started explaining a little about the others, starting with Nene and ending with Priss. "And stubborn miss Rock Star over there likes to keep her past a secret."

"Unlike the rest of you, I prefer to not have everyone know my business," Priss replied. She had reclaimed her seat in the floor and was leaning against Rei's leg. "Besides, I'm sure Nene-chan has dug most of it up by now, anyway."

The blonde blushed slightly. "Well, you wouldn't tell anyone. And lover-girl over there is just as secretive as you are. But don't worry, I couldn't find anything anyway. All your juvenile records are sealed. Best encryption I've seen in years," she replied. She became even redder and smiled at the newcomers when they chuckled slightly. "I do computer work for the ADPolice."

"Don't worry about it, Nene-san. It just seems a little strange that Mina-chan's daughter is a computer geek. That's something I thought only Ami-chan's kids would do," Michiru replied.

Rei smiled slightly. "Why do you think Nene-chan and Mackie-chan get along so well?"

"The Ice Queen spoke! The world is coming to an end!" Shinji ducked as several throw pillows came straight at his head.

Sylia chuckled softly. "I have an idea, we were just making plans for dinner, why don't we all go out together? Then we can figure out just how we are all connected," she replied.

Seeing that the other woman was starting to get nervous, Usa nodded. "That sounds like a great idea. What about that new Chinese place that opened last month?"

"Sounds good to me," Haruka replied.

"I think we'll pass," Asuka replied. "Chinese food never was a favorite of mine."

"We'll pass too," Rei replied. "Priss has a show she has to get ready for."

"Oh, yeah. It's a good thing she's around, otherwise I'd miss more shows than I already do," Priss replied. She stood, pulling Rei to her feet. They helped Asuka off the couch, then Priss grabbed Shinji off the floor. "You guys have fun. We'll catch you later."

As soon as all four of them were out the door, Mackie smiled. "Don't mind them. They just take a while to get used to new people."

Michiru smiled slightly. "That's perfectly understandable. Her mother was the same way," she replied.

At the curious looks, Haruka explained, "Priss' mother was an old friend of ours as well. The only one we ever really kept up with. We lost touch with her when her husband was transferred here with his job, though. We heard her and her husband's name listed among those killed in the Earthquake, but couldn't find anything out about Priscilla-chan. At least not until she started singing. We still have a few friends in the music business."

"How awful. About her parents, I mean," Nene replied. "No wonder she doesn't like to talk about it. All we had ever heard was that she had met Rei-chan, Asuka-chan and Shinji-kun shortly after the Quake. It was never quite clear where, though. Their pasts are even hazier than hers."

The group exchanged small talk as they gathered their things and headed downstairs. Nene told the others to go ahead without her, then stepped back to speak to the newcomers. "Tenou-san, Kaiou-san, I ... none of the others know what their mothers were. Well, Usa-chan knows, but the others don't."

Haruka nodded slightly. "I figured as much. But ... Nene-san, what happened to the others? Why won't they talk about them?"

Nene shrugged. "I don't know. We can't even get Sylia-chan and Mackie to say anything about their mother. I'm not ... I'm not really sure they even know what happened to her. Their childhood wasn't exactly ... normal. Not that any of ours was," she replied. She glanced over her shoulder to see Mackie waiting on her. She smiled at him, then turned back to the two women. "I just wanted to ask that you not say anything about that around them, okay? I don't know how they'd take it. Not just yet, anyway."

Michiru smiled slightly and placed a hand on the younger woman's shoulder. "Don't worry about that, Nene-san. If there is one thing we know how to do, it's be discreet."

"... so then, Nene came out wearing this ridiculous chicken outfit. No one could take a shot at her cause they were laughing too hard." Leon grinned in response to the death glares he was getting from the younger officer.

Linna chuckled and patted her younger friend on the arm. "Don't worry, Nene-chan. I'm sure that your fellow officers were only laughing with you," she replied. She glanced down the table to see Sylia was actually smiling for the first time since they came to dinner.

So far, they had figured out that her mother, Sylia and Mackie's mother, Nene's mother, Priss' mother AND Usa's had all been friends when they were younger. They had met the two musicians in Junior High School and had developed a mutual respect for each other that grew over the years. Unfortunately, during the 'incident' of 2015, they had all had to flee what had come to be called 'Tokyo-3', the third largest district within MegaTokyo. The aftermath and chaos that followed caused contact among most of the friends to be lost. The only real contact the two musicians had had was with Priss' mother, Makato and her husband, an American named Daniel. But when they died in 2025, the two women feared that they had lost all contact with their old lives.

Since neither of Priss' parents had any living relatives, they had tried to petition for custody, but since no one could prove whether or not she had survived or where she was in the system, the paperwork got lost. They received word a year ago about a singer with the name of the girl they had been looking for and had been trying to contact her since. The others confided that Priss was a very private person and that it had taken a long time for her to even begin to open up around them and that there were still just some things about which she didn't speak, her past being the main one. When Usa, who had been the only that had been told about her mother's childhood friends, asked about two other friends, the two musicians got very quiet. They were now just sitting back, listening to Leon, Nene and Mackie as they tried to embarass each other.

"So, Linna, you're a ... dancer?"

Linna glanced at the woman that had spoken and nodded. "Yes. My mother was actually the one that trained me. She was a very good dancer, not as good as she was at fortune-telling, but she tried."

Michiru smiled slightly. "She kept up the fortune-telling? I figured she'd kind of out grow that when she -- that is, I didn't realize she was so dedicated to it."

"That she most definitely was. She was always trying to see the future. Kept complaining that something had changed and that things weren't they way they were supposed to be." Linna looked down at the table for a few moments before wiping the tears from her eyes. "Guess her 'gift' didn't always work. Otherwise, she would have seen the Boomers coming and --"

Leon put his arm around Linna and hugged her. "Can we change the subject, please? Anything besides ... Boomers?"

Usa nodded. "Agreed. Um, so ... Nene-chan, you said something about your mother invited us to come visit them?"

Nene nodded. "Yeah, she wants to meet Mackie and all the rest of you. She said that if I don't come down there and bring you all for a visit, she's bringing the whole family up here for a formal dinner."

"As long as Minako-chan doesn't cook, you should be just fine, Nene-chan." Haruka smiled slightly and proceeded to tell them about the time that Minako thought she had cut her finger off while making curry. "According to Odango, she hadn't even cut herself, just barely brushed the knife against her finger."

"That sounds like mom," Nene replied. "I guess that's the reason why dad made her hire a cook when I was two. She nearly burned down the house trying to bake my birthday cake." She sat for a moment, thinking, then suddenly grinned. "You know, if the two of you aren't doing anything next week, you're more than welcome to come with us. I'm sure that mom would love to see you both again."

Haruka nodded. "We were planning on going to see her soon anyway. I think that would be as good a time as any. As long as we get all of our business finished here."

"Business? What kind of business?" Sylia looked at the two women, genuinely interested in the conversation for the first time since the mention of Boomers.

"Well, we have to find an apartment, then arrange to have everything moved here," Michiru began. "We didn't realize that it would be so difficult to find a place to live in this city."

Linna nodded. "Yeah, I know what you mean. It took me forever to get my apartment, but ... since I've moved in with Leon, it's just sitting empty. You guys can stay there. At least until you find something you like better."

"Weren't you going to rent it to Rei and Priss?" Addison asked. "Or did Asuka talk them into staying?"

"Uh, good question. They never gave me an answer. Eh, you snooze, you lose. Guess they'll just have to put up with a baby crying." Linna shrugged and handed a card to Haruka. "If you guys want to check it out, just give me a call."

"That's a very kind offer, Linna. We actually have a couple of places we're going to look at tomorrow, but we will keep that in mind," Haruka replied. She then looked at Usa. "Speaking of babies, whatever happened to Luna?"

Usa glanced at Nene and smiled slightly. "She and Artie are living in ... Kyoto, I think?" When the other woman nodded, she grinned. "Last I heard they were expecting child number three. That was about ... six months ago."

"Only three? I would have expected them to have at least ten by now," Michiru replied.

Nene chuckled. "After the twins were born, Aunt Luna made Uncle Artie live with mom for over a year. I think he was scared of her. I know I was. She can be one scary lady when she wants to be."

"That's true. She wasn't the only one, though. Most of them could get scary when they had to, even Ami-chan. Though most of the time, Rei-chan was the one that would freak people out." Haruka chuckled when she noticed that Sylia and Nene were nodding in Linna's direction. "Like mother, like daughter?"

"Of course. But, if I remember correctly, you were responsible for scaring your own share of people. Both of you." Usa smiled sweetly at her two aunts then stood from the table. "Sorry to cut this short, but I have a term paper due tomorrow and I still have to convince my dear Sylia to go over it for me again."

"So, I guess that means I'm staying with you tonight, Nene. I certainly don't want to be around Usa when she's 'convincing' my sister to do anything." Mackie chuckled as the two women's faces turned red.

Leon chuckled. "Just don't keep Nene-chan up too late. She's due on the range tomorrow for target practice. And, if all goes well, after a short trip to the hospital, we might get a chance to finish our little discussion from earlier."

Linna chuckled at the looks of confusion. "The first time they were at the range together, Nene-chan shot Leon. Right in the ah ... left cheek. Daley-chan never did stop bugging you about that donut, did he?" She made a face at him when he glared at her, then stood and hugged him. "I guess we should get going too. Nene-chan, Mackie-chan, do you guys want a ride?"

Nene glanced at her boyfriend, then shook her head. "Nah, I think we'll stay a little longer. Don't worry, Detective McNichol-san, I won't be late for work." She stood and saluted Leon then made a face at him.

"Yeah, right. If she's Minako-chan's daughter, she can't help but be late." Michiru smiled sweetly at the younger woman as most of the others left. "So, they're ... interesting."

"Not exactly what I was expecting, I have to admit." Haruka glanced at Mackie and smiled slightly. "Your sister ... reminds me a lot of how they said your mother acted before she and Usagi-chan became friends."

Mackie smiled sadly. "I wouldn't know. Mom hasn't ... our mom ... vanished when I was four. I don't really remember her and Sylia-chan ... doesn't talk about her, at all."

"Vanished?" Michiru glanced at her partner, then reached across to place one hand on Mackie's arm. "What--what happened?"

"I don't know. All I know is that one day I woke up and she was ... gone. Dad, as always, was buried in his work. Sylia-chan's a lot like him." Mackie placed his other hand on top of Michiru's and frowned slightly when he felt an odd tingle run through him. "You're not ... I mean, are you ... WHAT are you?"

Nene looked from her boyfriend to the older woman and then to the other blonde. "That is a LONG story."
